Flying in 2027 while Eindhoven Airport is closed

The closure dates, where Transavia and TUI fly from instead, and how to plan around it.

Key facts

  • No flights at Eindhoven Airport from 1 February to 18 July 2027. Flights resume on 19 July 2027.
  • The closure is for runway renovation and a better landing system for dense fog.
  • Transavia moves four aircraft to Weeze (Germany) and two to Maastricht Aachen Airport.
  • TUI is also using Weeze or Maastricht Aachen. Ryanair and Wizz Air had not announced alternatives as of early October 2026.
  • Only car park P1 stays open for short-term parking, and airport buses run a reduced timetable.

What to do

  1. If you fly between 1 February and 18 July 2027, you cannot use Eindhoven. Flights on or after 19 July 2027 are already on sale with several airlines.

  2. Transavia's winter routes from Weeze include Alicante, Barcelona, Faro, Lisbon, Malaga, Marrakech and Valencia. From Maastricht Aachen it flies to destinations like Alicante, Malaga, Faro and Palma de Mallorca.

  3. Weeze is just across the German border and Maastricht Aachen is in South Limburg. Check public transport, journey times and parking before you book, especially for early flights.

  4. Schiphol is reachable by train from Eindhoven Centraal. For long-haul trips or airlines not flying from Weeze or Maastricht, it may be the easiest option.

  5. Your airline will contact you. If your flight is cancelled you can choose a refund or another flight. With more than two weeks' notice, extra EU compensation usually does not apply.

  6. If your airline moves you to a nearby airport, ask whether it will cover the trip to that airport.

What is closing and why

Eindhoven Airport shares its single runway with the military air base. In 2027 the runway is renovated, shoulders widened, a taxiway added and the instrument landing system extended so planes can land in dense fog.

From 1 February to 18 July 2027 no flights depart or arrive. Shops and restaurants in the terminal close, except McDonald's with adjusted hours. The terminal reopens with flights on 19 July 2027.

Where the airlines go

Airlines choose their own alternatives. Transavia moves four aircraft to Weeze and two to Maastricht Aachen. Its Weeze flights start around 28 to 30 January 2027. Summer 2027 destinations were still to be announced when Transavia published its plans.

TUI also uses Weeze or Maastricht Aachen. Ryanair and Wizz Air had not announced where they would fly from during the closure as of early October 2026. Industry reports expect them to reduce Dutch flights rather than move.

  • Weeze (Transavia, winter): Alicante, Malaga, Barcelona, Faro, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Lisbon, Gran Canaria, Marrakech, Seville, Tenerife, Valencia
  • Maastricht Aachen (Transavia): Alicante, Malaga, Faro, Gran Canaria, Palma de Mallorca, Seville, Tenerife, Valencia

Practical points

Weeze is in Germany. Take a valid passport or ID card, as you would for any flight.

Car park P1 at Eindhoven Airport stays open for short-term parking. Bus services to the airport continue on a reduced timetable; check Hermes.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Booking a flight 'from Eindhoven' in spring 2027 without checking which airport it actually leaves from.
  • Underestimating travel time to Weeze or Maastricht for an early-morning departure.
  • Assuming Ryanair or Wizz Air will fly the same routes from a nearby airport.
  • Cancelling a booked flight yourself instead of waiting for the airline's offer.
